유네스코가 인정한 서울 연등행렬

서울 연등행렬은 유네스코 인류무형문화유산에 등재된 부처님오신날을 기념하는 전통 축제로, 매년 5월 16일 동대문에서 종각사거리까지의 종로 일원에서 열립니다.

수천 개의 연등이 거리에 밝아지며 조계사, 봉은사, 청계천, 광화문광장 등지를 따라 행렬을 형성합니다.

특히 21:30~23:00에는 흥인지문에서 출발하는 대동한마당 연등행렬이 관람객과 함께하는 장엄한 순간을 선사합니다.

연등 만들기 체험도 포함되어 있어 문화적 참여가 가능합니다.

The Seoul YeonDeungHoe (Lotus Lantern Festival) is a UNESCO-recognized Intangible Cultural Heritage event celebrating Buddha’s Birthday.

Originating from the Goryeo Dynasty, it symbolizes enlightenment, harmony, and hope.

Every May, the festival features a grand lantern parade from Dongdaemun through Jongno to Jogyesa Temple, along with cultural performances, lantern-making workshops, and a citizens’ unity celebration.

The festival’s inclusion on UNESCO’s list highlights its deep cultural value, emphasizing community participation, intergenerational transmission, and religious tolerance, while also serving as a major attraction showcasing Seoul’s vibrant spiritual and artistic traditions.
